Allyson Felix is known around the world for being the most decorated track athlete of all-time, male or female, with 18 World Championship medals and 9 Olympic medals, but her off-the-track accomplishments are equally impressive. In May of last year, she publicly took a stand against Nike for its parental leave policies as a high-profile sponsored athlete. The result from her efforts to fight for more protections as a pregnant athlete was Nike changing their policies outright - offering protections for all female athletes ensuring they aren’t negatively financially impacted by pregnancy for up to 18 months.
In addition, Allyson is a champion for the issue of black maternal mortality. Her own personal near-death experience with childbirth became a catalyst for her to become an advocate to close the maternal mortality racial gap. She most recently took a break from training for the Tokyo Olympics to testify before Congress to use her voice to shine a light on this issue.
Chelsea Clinton is an author, public health expert, Vice Chair of the Clinton foundation and former first daughter. As a mother of three young children, she is a passionate advocate for motherhood, women’s rights and gender equality, and has been a champion for girls and women through her advocacy, writing, and work at the Clinton Foundation. In addition to her series of bestselling children’s books under the “She Persisted” banner, inspiring stories of women for young girls and boys around the world, she has most recently co-authored with her mother “The Book of Gutsy Women: Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience.”
We look forward to an open discussion between these two amazing women, mothers and champions for change. Register for this exciting event here.
